Bill Chen is a Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he directs the Small Molecule Therapeutic Center.  He has been instrumental in developing novel, first-in-class small molecules that modulate protein stability by modulating E3 ligase activity. Several of the compounds he discovered have received IND approval from the FDA. He obtained his PhD from the University of Iowa.
